The Golden Rule
❤️ “If it seems too good to be true, it probably isn’t true. ” Margaret, 62, Florida, has a story to prove this point.
A MAGIC Coaching friend reported that someone with perfect photos showed immediate interest in her. She was his prayer answered. In the weeks that followed, when she suggested video chatting, he always had excuses. After three weeks, he experienced a “sudden financial emergency” and asked her to borrow $1,000.
After conducting a quick reverse image search, which she had learned from an early book release, she contacted me and revealed that the photos belonged to a real estate agent in another state.
Thus, she was saved from heartbreak and financial loss.
Open Hearts, Wise Boundaries
Remember that safety practices aren’t walls—they’re the foundation upon which genuine connection can flourish.
As 1 John 4:18 reminds us, “There is no fear in love.”
As a community member at Silver Time Dating, you will learn to approach dating with proper wisdom and boundaries. This creates space for authentic relationships to develop.
Your dating journey doesn’t have to be faced alone.
The MAGIC framework provides tools for every step—from Meaningful Preparation to Authentic Connection, God-guided Discernment, Intentional Relationship Building, and Commitment with Clarity.
God is still crafting your love story
The next chapter of companionship awaits, and with the protection of our community and His wisdom provided through the MAGIC and SAFE Digital Dating Coach approaches, you can face dating with confidence rather than fear.
Loneliness Blinded Me
After my divorce, I initially dated from a place of loneliness and fear. Dates felt like job interviews. This almost caused me to make poor decisions about a potential life partner. With help from others, I’ve learned that loneliness caused me to overlook circumstances that would have been obvious otherwise. While researching, “At our age, what makes love last?” I learned that many others share the same issue with loneliness.
Over the past two years, I’ve marveled at the work God has done through me in creating this ministry. I’ve written a 16-chapter book, created a website, and I am currently working on the SAFE app to help others avoid the mistakes we can make when choosing a partner at this stage of life, as well as to prevent scams.
God’s Protection in Digital Reality
The statistics tell a sobering story for believers in our season of life. What hurts the most is that these are people just like you and me, trying to find a companion, and alone, it is even more difficult:
- 67% of Christian seniors report feeling unprepared for modern dating challenges
- Romance scams targeting seniors resulted in over $277 million in losses in 2023 alone
Our expanding community of believers shares our experiences and hope for a meaningful connection while exploring unfamiliar digital territory.

5 Safety Practices for Christians Over 50
This common-sense approach to dating will protect you at several levels. Our community will share experiences to bolster your great awareness and safety
1. Trust Verification Before Heart Investment
Before meeting someone in person, complete these simple verification steps:
- Search their name and location online
- Conduct a reverse image search on profile photos (using Google Images or TinEye). This is explained in Chapter 11.
- Have at least one video chat conversation or two phone calls – minimum
- Share basic information about the meeting with a trusted accountability partner
Remember: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” (Proverbs 4:23)
2. First Meeting Protection Protocol
For initial meetings, commit to these God-honoring practices:
- Meet only in public places with plenty of other people around
- Tell someone whom you’re meeting, where, and when
- Keep the meeting relatively short (coffee works perfectly), take it slow
- I have to say this, but stay sober and alert to honor your discernment
3. Information Sharing With Godly Wisdom
Share personal information according to this timeline:
- First messages: First name only, general location, fundamental interests
- After conversations establish trust: More specific interests, general work information
- After in-person meetings: More specific details as trust builds
- Never share: Financial information, account access, or passwords
4. Recognize Warning Signs God Provides
Stay alert to these red flags:
- Moving too quickly to declarations of love or deep emotional connection
- Reluctance or inability to video chat or meet in person
- Inconsistent details about their life, work, or background
- Any requests for financial assistance, regardless of the story
5. Support System of Fellow Believers
Create a dating safety support network:
- Identify an accountability partner who knows your dating activities.
- Establish a check-in system during the dates. A phone call from a friend.
- Join a community of Christian seniors navigating similar waters. We’re here for you and will ensure you’re updated on new scams or fraud attempts.
